Nature is front and center today as we depart the hotel after breakfast. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, “The Most Beautiful Place in the USA” as named by ABC’s Good Morning America viewers, is our first stop. These perched dunes are the largest freshwater dune system in the world, soaring 450 feet above Lake Michigan. Various vantage points provide sweeping views of what we like to call “Big Blue”.
Continuing our excursion through the Cherry Capital of the world, the Great Hall of the Cherry Republic is a delight for the taste buds with samplings of more than 200 cherry products. A drive through the Leelanau Wine Country and cherry orchards takes us to special surprises and lunch before heading back to Traverse City for a hands-on experience, then off to dinner.

We start today at the Music House Museum. An extensive collection of restored automated music machines will be demonstrated including the pictured massive Belgium Dance Hall organ. The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, the former Northern Michigan Asylum built in 1885, is the site of one of the largest redevelopment projects in the USA. A tour behind the scenes of the renovation will give you an understanding of founder Dr. Munson’s “Beauty is Therapy” theory on patient care. There will be plenty of time to explore the boutique shops and grounds before lunch. We will return to the Park Place Hotel to relax prior to the start of the conference.
